Essendon Plumbing Services is the preferred plumbing provider at several Stockland Retirement Villages in the northern and western suburbs of Melbourne. We recently had a call for help from Arilla Retirement Village in South Morang Melbourne who were referred to us from Highlands Retirement Village in Craigieburn.
Blocked drain in South Morang
The call was regarding a sewer drain that was frequently clogging up which in turn was causing several villas in the retirement complex to experience blocked drains. They were not having any success with their incumbent plumbing contractor providing a detailed report on what was causing the clogged drain, what was needed to fix the blocked drain and a fixed price quote on how much it would cost to repair. Arrila was looking for a long-term solution and what they were getting were short-term fixes.
Our Admin team booked in an experienced drain plumber to attend site the same day with all the required drain cleaning equipment and CCTV Camera to investigate the cause of the problem and provide a solution for a long-term fix.
Expert plumber in South Morang
Ben our experienced plumber and CCTV camera operator was able to clearly inspect the drain with the imagery in colour and pinpoint the fault for the client. He had located a section of broken pipe allowing tree root to enter the drain and continually block the drain.
The images were recorded on the USB which was provided to the client as well as a detailed quotation to repair the broken drain and a 100% lifetime satisfaction guarantee.
The quote was approved, and our Operations Manager, Richard, swiftly completed an application and paid all fees for consent to carry out repairs to the existing below ground sewer system with the local water authority. Once approval was received work could commence. Residents were notified of the upcoming works, a start and completion date and how disruptions would affect their homes.
Drains fixed fast in Melbourne
The plumbing team of Richard, Ben and Matt attended site with an excavator and all the necessary plant and equipment needed to carry out the sewer drain repairs. The team worked carefully to locate both the 100mm PVC branch drain and the main 150mm PVC drain that were both in need of repair due to the damage the tree roots had caused. Works needed to be undertaken with caution as there were major services in the ground including domestic water and fire service supply that could not be compromised.
As part of the excavation works a small tree was also required to be cut down – which the team of plumbers undertook safely themselves – and then arranged for a separate contractor to attend and shred and mulch the tree so there was no impact to the client.
Once the drain was safely excavated and exposed the team advised the residents the sewer would not be able to be used for 3 hours whilst the damaged drainpipe was cut out and a new drainpipe installed. Within 2 hours the new drains were installed, and the residents were back online. The drain was then redyed for a VBA sewer inspection which was booked for the following morning at 7.30am.
The inspection was carried out and the drain was passed, then the team were ready to start backfilling and re-instating the area back to normal. All the excess dirt and rubbish was removed from site and topsoil was placed over the excavated area and levelled. The site area was then pressure washed.
The client was extremely satisfied with the outcome. He noted the work was completed with minimal disruption to their clients, within budget and the timeframe allocated, and the work area was left as they found it, clean, tidy and safe for residents.
Another happy Essendon Plumbing Services customer and a new long-term client.
