Recently we received a weekend call for an emergency plumbing problem in Strathmore. The client reported water coming through the wall from the adjoining property and flooding into their property. Our plumber explained, over the phone, how to turn the mains water supply off to the property to prevent any further damage occurring. He advised the client he could be there within the hour to repair the burst pipe. Our fees and charges were explained and accepted, and the plumber headed out to site.
Plumber arrives on site
Our Master plumber arrived on site and could clearly see the area where water had been running. The client explained he had only just noticed the running water, so didn’t suspect the pipe had been leaking for too long.
Our plumber briefly turned the mains supply back on to identify the area of the burst, then shut it off again. The pipe was underground, so it needed to be excavated. Our plumber excavated the ground and found the pipe but unfortunately, it wasn’t leaking in the exact spot he had dug up, but he chased the pipe along the wall and quickly found the leaking pipe.
Repairing the pipe
There were concrete footings that needed to be cut out and removed to access the split in the copper pipe. He could now cut out and remove the section of split copper pipe and replace it with a new piece. Our plumber then turned the water supply back on at the mains and checked to make sure the pipe was no longer leaking. Once confirmed, our plumber could then backfill the soil over the hole and remove the damaged pipe and concrete from the site to leave a clean and tidy workplace.
Happy Customer
Throughout the entire process, from receiving the call for help, digging the hole, repairing the pipe and cleaning the site, our trusted local plumber made sure the client was kept informed about what we were doing. We find that this gives them peace of mind and confidence in the work we do.
