Essendon Plumbing Services has been providing expert Plumbing solutions across Melbourne for more than 30 years and throughout this period we have stuck to our commitment to give back to the community and recognise that good will is worth far more than monetary gain.

In 2018 Essendon Plumbing Services, in consultation with all team members, decided we wanted to have a positive impact on the lives of young children by providing an opportunity for disadvantaged Australian kids to participate in their education, giving them the best chance at breaking the cycle. We proudly partnered with “The Smith Family” and their Learning for Life program, which provides emotional, practical and financial support to help disadvantaged children and young people with their education.

One in six Australian children and young people who grow up in poverty, can be limited with their choices, opportunities and outcomes in life. Investing in the education of a disadvantaged child delivers long-term positive benefits for them, their family and potentially generations to come.

Education has the Power to Change Lives and Break the Cycle of Disadvantage

The Learning for Life program starts in the early years of learning development and continues through primary and high school. It helps build skills, knowledge, motivation, self-belief and a network of positive relationships with parents, peers and significant others. The support increases a young person’s likelihood of remaining engaged with school, completing Year 12 and developing realistic and informed study and career pathways for life.

The Smith Family provide targeted support that begins early in a child’s life and continues in a balanced long-term way throughout their first two decades. This approach results in increases in high school graduation and university enrolments and decreases in welfare reliance and criminal convictions.

Our Commitment

Our goal is to sponsor 1 x Australian Child through the Learning for Life program for every plumber we employ. We currently have a team of 10 plumbers and as our organisation grows, we commit to sponsoring an additional child for every additional plumber on our team.
